New car launches in January 2019

It is that time of the year when most of us would be busy making New Year resolutions and future plans.  Some of the top car manufacturers in the country are planning to start the year on a high new with the launch of five new models, namely – Nissan Kicks, Tata Harrier, Toyota Camry, Mercedes-Benz V-Class and the new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R. Read below to find out more about the new car launches in January 2019.

Tata Harrier

The much-awaited premium SUV from Tata Motors, the Harrier is due for India launch on 23 January. The SUV was last seen as the H5X Concept at the 2018 Auto Expo and will present the IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy at the time of launch. The vehicle will be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder Kryotec turbodiesel engine that generates 140bhp and 350Nm of torque. The feature list will include an eight-way adjustable driver seat with a four-way adjustable co-driver seat, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control and more.

Nissan Kicks

The upcoming premium SUV from Nissan, the Kicks has been revealed ahead of its official launch in India in January 2019. The India-spec model gets unique set of features in the form of LED projector headlights, quick cooling auto AC with rear vents, a leather-wrapped soft-touch dashboard and door trims, roof rail with 100kg loading capacity, premium leather stitched seats, shark fin antenna and more. The vehicle will be available in 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. In terms of safety, the SUV gets airbags, ABS with EBD and braking assistance as standard.

Mercedes-Benz V-Class

Mercedes-Benz V-Class is due for launch on 24 January. The luxury MPV will be available in seven and eight seat options. Although Mercedes-Benz has not revealed engine option details for India, we believe the V-Class might be offered with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that generates 191bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. The BS-VI compliant engine will come mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. The upcoming Mercedes-Benz V-Class will initially be available on sale for personal car buyers and it is likely to emerge as a good option as a second car in a luxury household that already has an E-Class or the GLE.

Toyota Camry

Back in October, Toyota revealed the ASEAN-spec Camry in Thailand. It is believed that the India bound model in January will have the same specifications and will be based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform as the Lexus ES. The India-spec Camry is expected to be powered by a 2.5-litre engine that generates 174bhp. The vehicle is also expected to be offered in hybrid variant with an 88kW electric motor that increases the power output to 206bhp.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R

The popular tall boy from Maruti Suzuki, the Wagon R is likely to be launched in an all new avatar in January 2019. The first Wagon R was introduced in late 1999 and the launch of the all-new Wagon R to celebrate the 20th anniversary year of the hatchback might very well be on the cards. The new model is expected to be bigger and offer more space than the existing model. The vehicle is expected to continue being powered by the existing 1.0-litre petrol engine. An electric version is also on cards and is also expected to be introduced sometime soon.
